I attached a rear rack to my full suspension mountain bike using a longer rear skewer with a few extra spacers. Now I can carry my child on his seat and use the rack as a carrier. Most of the wait is distributed onto the rear wheel through the skewer. The rack is balanced by attaching brackets to the part of the frame that does not move with the suspension.
