Hi All,
I need a decent bike to ride around The Woodlands here in Tx for fun and excercise. I may use it up north on the Huntsville State Park trails. Tell me what you think or if there is another bike similar for the price. I have had a Mongoose from Walmart and it took the trails fine so I am not to worried about that. The idea of being stranded does worry me but I can’t afford more atm. maybe nxt year.
Things I like:
suspension – rides good, looks cool –
Disc – I just gotta have it. Front n Rear

Hey, I’m looking to head over to a couple of different bike shops this weekend. Basically it comes down to the…
Specialized Hardrock w/ disc brakes
http://www.specialized.com/us/en/bc/SBCBkModel.jsp?spid=38433&eid=107
OR
Trek 3900 w/ disc brakes
http://www.trekbikes.com/us/en/bikes/mountain_hardtail/3_series/3900disc/
I’m just looking for a beginner singletrack bike. I’m kinda leaning towards the Specialized.
Or the GT avalanche 3.0 Disc

Hi, I’m looking to start some mountain biking on trails in new england, and was looking for a good beginners bike. I have a few hundred to spend but am unsure of where to look and exactly what to look for in a bike. I have browsed ebay and several online retailers but am still unsure. I’ve found a few that look interesting, but am unsure about the quality of the bikes ive found even for a beginner.
These look interesting but is the folding mechanism a death trap?

The product site is http://www.nashbar.com/bikes/ProductDisplay?storeId=10053&langId=-1&catalogId=10052&productId=163522&cm_mmc=PG-_-Bicycles-_-Mongoose-_-MG-RDAL9&mr:referralID=28965000-8671-11de-bbda-000423bb4e95
I’m looking for a sturdy comfortable hybrid or mountain bike good for beginners that will not break down easily and will last me years of casual riding to the park, hills, potholed streets, no mountains nor any real rugged terrain nor any racing and I will on average bike maybe once a week so I don’t need a high end bike.
Can anyone with bike knowledge help me out. Is this a good deal?
With the coupon and shipping it comes out to 6.98. The http://www.mtbr.com/cat/older-categories-bikes/2003-hardtail/mongoose/rockadile-al/PRD_361565_1510crx.aspx ratings are for their older models years ago but seem to suggest a sturdy frame and overall good bike.
If this is not a good deal, is there somewhere else I can get a good bike for under 0? If it is a good deal I will be ordering a large. I am 6 feet tall and 165 pounds.
Thanks a lot.
