It’s a bike that’s designed for cross country all the way through to all mountain, and it’s been loaned to me by the Brookvale Bike Factory. Anyway, I’m at the Manly Dam and I’m going to put this bike through its paces, so let’s see how it goes. The transfer of muscle power through the wheels is delivered with minimal energy loss and stress on the body. You feel very powerful and confident on this bike in all conditions and situations. The rear suspension system is brilliant and its success is due to the combination of the ABP and the DRCV shock. ABP means active breaking pivot, basically it allows your suspension to remain active regardless of whether you’re pedalling, coasting or braking. The DRCV shock has two air changes. The primary is for small bunts, high frequency and the secondary is for bigger hits. The upside is greater control, balance and stability in all conditions. What I experienced with (01 was the ability to attack technical climbs with ease, regardless of being in the saddle or standing. The wheel seemed to track and engage effortlessly with the terrain. This is one of my favorite trails of all time, Hazard Peak. With two crazy fast downhill trails leading away from it, as well as the majestic mountains and great ocean view, I think it is one of the greatest mountain biking places in California. This is shot on the GoPro HD Helmet Hero in 1080p HD and my bike is a Trek / Gary Fisher Rumblefish 29er.
