It’s a bike that’s designed for cross country all the way through to all mountain, and it’s been loaned to me by the Brookvale Bike Factory. Anyway, I’m at the Manly Dam and I’m going to put this bike through its paces, so let’s see how it goes. The transfer of muscle power through the wheels is delivered with minimal energy loss and stress on the body. You feel very powerful and confident on this bike in all conditions and situations. The rear suspension system is brilliant and its success is due to the combination of the ABP and the DRCV shock. ABP means active breaking pivot, basically it allows your suspension to remain active regardless of whether you’re pedalling, coasting or braking. The DRCV shock has two air changes. The primary is for small bunts, high frequency and the secondary is for bigger hits. The upside is greater control, balance and stability in all conditions. What I experienced with (01 was the ability to attack technical climbs with ease, regardless of being in the saddle or standing. The wheel seemed to track and engage effortlessly with the terrain. On the test ride it had quick handling so if a tree jumps out you can quickly swing away with hardly any correction . It climbs well because the top tube is shorter and you sit into the bike . This is me riding my 2010 Trek Fuel Ex8 on the Rivanna Trail from Hydraulic Road to Greenbriar Park in Charlottesville Virginia. A few seconds into this video I fell off the short narrow bridge. Basically, I got too close to the edge, panicked because I don’t like heights, and then it was all over. No harm though other than some scratches on my arms and legs from the briars I fell into. I’m going to try and eventually have videos of the whole trail system up.
